in the arcades I´ve spend most of my money with Virtua Fighter 2, Ferrari F355 Challenge and Ridge Racer. I loved these games, but spent much of money in them.
We´ve risen up anew to drink the wine of vindication!

We didn't get to go to the arcade often at all as kids. Grew up not very well off, but more importantly nowhere near an arcade, and the only local cabs I can remember were two in the entryway at Ames.

Once a year though my best friend's parents would take him and I and his sister to an arcade about an hour away and I'd have a bit of money to spend. We always credit fed through the Jurassic Park game, every single year.

Our local Ames store had an MVS with Metal Slug X in it, which probably has seen more quarters than anything else in my lifetime, and they had Raiden 2. That must take second place just due to the convenient location 2 feet to the side of the MVS cab.

My hometown didn't have an arcade either. I mostly played arcade games on cruise ships and theme parks. To be fair, I must've been about 12 when finally I learned that arcades do exist outside of theme parks and other similar resorts.

I live in Germany, and due to the idiocy of our lawmakers, arcade games were categorized as gambling machines and therefore not available to people under 18 - which in reality meant that there were hardly any cabs around. I still vividly remember our summer holidays at Italian beaches, most of which had arcades. I spent a lot of time staring at Robocop cab in the late 80s and watching other people play it.
Anyway, on my trips to Japan I once played Mushihimesama Matsuri version for six hours straight since the arcade that had it charged only 20 yen per play.

I once visited Germany in the 80's or early 90's with my parents and snuck into an arcade. There were lots of NSM woody cabinets (my dream is to own one some day) and I found a left over credit in one with Arkanoid. I didn't have time to play though, as an employee of the arcade spotted me and showed me to the door. :problem:

On those few occasions I had in a real arcade outside of Germay, I could not spend much, but in sum it must have been in the following order
Street Fighter 2 and some versions of it,
either Daytona USA or Scud Race and
Starblade
"Hans, I've just noticed something."

 must have been painful, especially when you're still at an age where you can't really afford playing on an arcade machine. I remember once taking ages to decide which game to play in an Italian beachside arcade, I must have been 7 or something and my parents had given me a single coin, so I wanted to make it count. Chose what must have been Galaga, only to find out that you needed two coins to play. Instead of pushing the coin return button and chosing a different machine, I ran off to my parents, bawling like a retard.

1. SFII (both WW and CE)
2. Vendetta

Pretty confident they’ll be 1 & 2 on the most credits list. After that, I’m not too sure. We had quite quick rotations in the local cafe arcade.

Probably RODA or Sunset Riders maybe??
