Games you've never taken to

Post by geotrig »

So, what are yours ? I have a few and probably more than I actually like.

This is arcade related : my consoles list would be way too big ! :lolno:
Simpsons just felt blah to me ....need to give it a go but never had any desire to try it again or own it ever.
Turtles /turtles in time in time , same as above never clicked and I like some turtle games on consoles.
/me ducks from cools :awe: nz story just could never get into it nearly "got" it the last time I tried it but still it just didn't hit home

<trk>:I remember catching a big fat one and my friend said "throw it back in, that one already tastes like wood"

Everyone rates Mushihimesama. I don't enjoy it much, but Futari is fantastic.

@geotrig
You should play turtles /turtles in time with a friend. It makes much more fun.

I agree with Futari is more interesting than the first Mushi, but I like them both.

Me and a mate were playing Muchi Muchi Pork a while back, but for some reason we did not enjoy the game very much. What we did enjoy was Pink Sweets instead.

I must also mention AvP. Played it the first time in years a few weeks ago and after stage two I remembered why. Starts cool, turns dull and then becomes annoying quickly. No idea why there is so much love for this.

edit.

Aka to Blue, I'm sure it is a good game, I didn't like the mechanics and I found it really really unappealing.

The repetitive music in AVP is really annoying, but it's still cool AF.

Cotton 2.
I picked up a genuine cart with artwork for a nice price a few years ago. From the first play I just couldn't gel with it. I kept trying it, and forcing myself to like it, but I couldn't, and just sold it on

I find mushi quite grotty to look at, it’s much rougher than just about any other cave game.

What? I think it’s far prettier than Futari. Gorgeous looking game.

I played Splatterhouse for the first time on ACA a few months back. It’s absolute garbage.

It’s all fuzzy edges and noises textures to me. Maybe it’s the nature theme I don’t feel much for.

Too many to list. Metal Slugs, Cave shmups, DDR and similar garbage to trigger a few of you. :whoopsie:

Splatterhouse is fun. But I like Spelunker too, so...

To be fair, I'm sure the experience back in the 80s when it was new was different, but even ignoring the horror theme, these days every element about Splatterhouse could be seen as something of an acquired taste. The limited screen space for the action, the game mechanics and pacing, the art style AND the colour palette, and the music. But I like it as a whole.

What about Genpei Toumaden? Any Fans? I absolutely love it.

I prefer the more hand drawn look of the original, and it has a strong Nausicaa vibe.

With Pang on this one. I love everything about the original Mushihimesama.

Stage 3 is probably my favourite level on any shmup.

Gonna put Battle Garegga in here. I've never understood the hype. Bakraid is a lot more fun.

I like level 3, unfortunately it's preceded by levels 1 and 2 and followed by others.

On your side with Garegga, though I'll enjoy a credit it's not one I can sink my teeth into. Batrider > Bakraid though.
