After having sold a sizeable console collection years ago I've been pining for my old pc engines.

I've started with a core grafx and a modest Hu card collection and then 2 weeks ago my local game shop (vintage gamer, a brilliant local retro games store) got a boxed duo in.

Slowly convinced myself to flex the credit card and buy it.

It's in great nick, been recapped and has a very nice RGB mod so I'm well chuffed :awe:

I bet that was a giddy day.

I had one about 15 years ago and then I got a duo R. Lord knows why I sold them both and my lovely minty CD games.

Gate of thunder is the best, I love it. Currently working my way through nexzr, it's rock hard but good fun.

I had fun collecting Duo stuff in the '90s/2000s, I got into it when Babbages still stocked games, I had Air Zonk and similar titles right off the shelf new. Way too expensive now would rather just emu since anything above a calculator can play these games. Some of the sleekest system builds ever made, though. At least you didn't buy a PCFX  a truly useless system even new.

Yeah prices these days have got to a hilariously idiotic level.

I love to have the proper hardware especially as I can play my Hu cards on it and I love Hu cards, the novelty hasn't worn off in 35 years.

I got some good quality CDRs and burned the at 1 speed and all games work perfectly on the duo

Even the crapier consoles such as Atari Jaguar go for silly prices now.

I blame retro gaming podcasts and YouTube channels (which I listen to and watch).

Oh and millennials.

And COVID.

I'm off to complain about unreliable bus services now

Name some podcasts! I’m in!! Only one I’ve spent much time listening to Cane and Rinse

If you’re up for a YouTube recommendation outside of the usual suspects try The Electric Starship.

God damn the Atar Jag, used to be able to buy a system with a box of games for maybe $75-$100 because it was so **** no one wanted to even deal with it, now one game costs as much because of hoarders

Youtube ruined collecting anything. Not just gaming, some moron will make a video about minidisc, or a old turntable model, and all the used units will be sold and posted 2x/3x in the future. There was plenty of internet before Youtube and game prices weren't ruined back then. Gamers used to only have to deal with other gamers wanting something, now even people who don't play games will buy **** just to flip it. I'm glad I got my fill, collectors now go broke buying crumbs.

A fun day today…

League Bowling, which really wasn’t on the list, but a fun game to have in a cab and an absolute steal of a bargain too… (thanks Kev)
IMG_4529.jpeg
I’ll treat it to a shock box. I’m torn on whether I’ll get a repro label…

What I’m most excited about is Metal Slug Double X

Not a brilliant game, but it’s the last on the list of physical copies of the main line Metal Slug series.

Came with these random cards too. I’ve got nothing to do with them, but fun to have I guess.

I won a cool MS poster on eBay too. Once that arrives there’s probably not a lot more MS stuff I’m interested in having… until eXa buys the licence and brings out 8??

I couldn't find a decent cover so I put together this based on the AES box and manual.

Don't give up hope Chris. cabinet was almost in the marketplace section. Moshpit was lucky and told me six months ago that he was still looking for an Egret.
Condition is good overall but not flawless either.
