Anyone else just not really ever get a feel for SNK non weapons based fighting games?

I absolutely love The Last Blade 1&2 and SSHO2 (some of my favourite fighting games in fact) and find the SNK style really suits weapons combat games - but MOTW, The KOF games.. just never really got them. Something always felt a bit off.

Wakku Wakku 7 is a bit of craic I suppose.

Waku Waku 7 is by Sunsoft, not SNK.

I still enjoy KOF. But not the ones with strikers, tagging or the non-MVS games.

Ah yes, of course - that's probably why I enjoy it far more than the others.

Saying that, I'm far from a fighting game connoisseur. Happy just to have a few bashes of SF2:CE with friends.

It's rather common to mistake Neo Geo fighting games to be by SNK. World Heroes series is often miscredited to them.

Any Neo Geo fighters…

I own a few, but honestly it’s basically for the aesthetic.
I just don’t find them as ‘playable’ as Capcom fighters.

Mark of the Wolves is cool, and I can sit down and mess about for an hour, but others like WakuWaku 7 and the Last Blade games never click.
As much as I try I just can’t get into them.

Matrimelee is another with a great aesthetic, but just doesn’t play nicely at all…

I find the opposite, KOF to me is so advanced to every thing else, I love it, the characters, fighting style and stories. The last blade never clicked at all, but Samurai Shodown is great.

WW7 is probably my favourite NeoGeo fighter. I'd like to like the others but without shoulder-to-shoulder competition that's unlikely

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, WW7 is worth buying for the character select screen scat alone.

I always enjoyed the KOF series (especially 98), Last Blade 1&2, Fatal Fury (not real bout so much), MOTW and certainly AOF3 - what a game that is.

When I first laid eyes on Samurai Showdown I was blown away with how it looked, but It never clicked with me. Siff controls, way to much jumping around and painfully difficult AI. This goes for all the games in the series - none of them has ever really done it for me. I had 2 on AES and played it as much as I could stand, perhaps more 2 player focus would have helped.

Konami belt scrollers.

TMNT, The Simpsons, Aliens, Metamorphic Force etc… All incredibly crud.

The only one they did that was actually bloody rad was Violent Storm.

For me, it's the Soul Calibur series. I don't find it great. I like some characters, but don't like the gameplay. Also, not a fan of the medieval atmosphere. The anouncer is very annoying after a few fights.

I was already burned out on fighting games into the 360/PS3. SSF2HD was one of the last ones I bought with vanilla SF4. I was heaviest into fighters during Dreamcast/Saturn/Neo Geo. But stuff I never took to: Tekken, Guilty Gear, Dead or Alive, and pretty much anything that came after that. I had some Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution jam sessions before I sold my PS2 several years ago, and will load up MAME sometimes for CPS2, but I just don't see the point in fighters since I wouldn't pay the shakedown money to play online on the consoles (no gaming PC).
