I couldn't really find something about remote battery, I'm sure there are but anyway ... I thought I would post my setup:
On the same plank , in my blast city, I have DDP Dai ou Jou with a remote battery and just above, the Sega i/o board with a jvs-pac...which connects to a cross box.

The original is a Varta 3/V80H 2 Pin 3.6V 80mAh NiMH Battery
I thought of finding something else but gave up and found one locally. I simply wired it outside the board and wrapped it in heat shrink tubing.
