My Rock Playtime II Cabinet
Hi, I would like to show some pics of my Rock Playtime II Sitdown Cabinet.
Its a chinese made 25'' candy, and totally made of plastic. The quality is not as good as a original japanese one, but it is still great for home use, the cab has never been in any arcade.
The former ower (a friend of mine) equipped this cab with a Hantarex Polostar 25 Multisync and an european PSU. He also swapped the cheap chinese controls with Sanwa parts. So this cab is not 100% original, but a whole lot better than before.
Pics:
15kHz PCB
31kHz Dreamcast via VGA-Box
Some 15kHz hori shmup action
The inside, enough space for a Hyper Neo Geo and two pcbs, try that with an Atomiswave SD. It is wired for 5 buttons, perfect for the Atomiswave. The coin mech is missing, though.
The panel, full Sanwa, except the Seimitsu Bubble Balltops.

Looks nice - for those of us that just want a cabinet that looks ok rather than a 'named' one, those Chinese cabs seem pretty much spot-on

Re: My Rock Playtime II Cabinet
The Chinese cabs I've seen (I have one) are not, and I repeat NOT close to Japanese quality cabs. You need to remember that you have to switch a few components to be satisfied and mine is not very sturdy because the plastic is not very thick. The screens might be a disapointment if you are hardcore about picture quality (that might not be relevant in this case). But If you are short on cash and don't have to high standards, they are OK.chubsta wrote:Looks nice - for those of us that just want a cabinet that looks ok rather than a 'named' one, those Chinese cabs seem pretty much spot-on
However, the "Rock Playtime II" might be much better than the ones I've seen, I don't know.

Yes, I´m the former owner, I bought it from redstallone.
I really like the small width, and the monitor size (25 inches) is in my opinion perfect for vertical games.

All the clone cabs seem to have tons of space inside.

Re: My Rock Playtime II Cabinet
That credit button fits in the coin return hole perfectly if it's a 30mm (just remove the metal flap) - a bit tidier than out of the coin chute, and also leaves that still functioning....

If one of those could be found how much do you reckon it would go for? Also, what companies sell them, anyone know??

Re: My Rock Playtime II Cabinet
Coinopexpress is selling them, but the quality of the monitor is unclear. It's only a low res.

Re: My Rock Playtime II Cabinet
I really like that cab but I have the same concern with the monitor. I wonder if they can install different models per order?
it looks like either this or aero city if I want a monitor smaller than 29", which I do

Re: My Rock Playtime II Cabinet
I had this cab and it's good for the home as it rarely has been in an arcade so is usually nice and clean and tidy...but if that is not a major issue for you or you are good at cleaning then go for the Aero. The Rock's are not built well, mine came with a 15Khz monitor that had some geometry issues, and generally if you get this cabinet you'll see photos of proper Japanese cabs on sites like this and be jealous....always.

Re: My Rock Playtime II Cabinet
They used to sell this cab as kit without monitor, which was perfect to equip it with a PoloStar.

I've really enjoyed working on my crappy converted defender/woody cab. Working on the aero would be good timesscumball wrote:I had this cab and it's good for the home as it rarely has been in an arcade so is usually nice and clean and tidy...but if that is not a major issue for you or you are good at cleaning then go for the Aero. I may say to hell with it and just get an Egret though, arrrggh!
Thanks for the advice!
