Wow doode, really looks fantastic, I also didn't konw it was in that stage. Nothing beats the original of course but hey it's bloody practical, cheap and spacesaving ;)

Nice thing about it, is that naomi uses bog plain 640x480@60hz, no complicated stuff to get "cab-perfect " video output.

Now where are those Under Defeat/Trizeal rips? :)

intel core duo e8400 3ghz (not overclocked)
geforce 8600gt pci-e (the cheap 40 quid one)
3 ghz ddr2 667mhz ram
mini atx mother board g31t-m (cheap one too, bout 40 quid maybe even less) nice purple board like mame boards
vista ultimate sp1
500 gig sata hard drive

you need shader model 2 support on your graphics card, the geforce 8600gt has shader model 4. This setup also emulates dreamcast games superbly and everything ive tried runs at 60htz

Cool.

Is there a guide to getting it up and running? I've never managed to work it out.

The Nulldc emulator is pretty straightforward. Pop the roms in the rom folder etc. The one issue that a lot of people have is that when fighting in any game the sprites can go out of sync - the center of the body may lag behind the rest of the body or small boxes may be formed around each sprite group- this can be fixed by adjusting the settings of your nvidia card in the control panel, also, if your using vista, the sound can stutter, if this is the case go to sound options in the menu of the emulator and change it from 1024 to 2048, this will sort it.

By the way, MAME runs really well with this pc spec.

Nice setup - pretty similar to my own.

You'll notice a HUGE difference in MAME by going 64bit (25% - 33% improvement)

Lol, I think I may be upgrading my mametopia ;)

...

Do you need a particular brand/model CD drive to read GDroms, or does it work from disk images?

Would a 7800GTX do a good job?

Is that vista ultimate 64bit?

i was considering it but i was concerned about drivers for my ps3 pad, i dont think they are available for the 64 bit vista ultimate and i have it working on the 32bit version just fine, also would need drivers for the ipac controller and xbox steering wheel etc, I also had some concerns about the compatability of some of the emu's, to be honest i was going to stick with xp but the move to vista was a smooth one. Thanks for the info though.

Disc images at the moment although i would prefer gdroms if it was possible but i dont think it is due to hardware limitations.
a 7800gtx should be fine, once it has shader model 2 support for dc and naomi

As my mobo tops out at 2GB RAM, I went with WinXP64 as I have some concerns about the memory usage in Vista in general!!!

I have a Shuttle SD30B2+
Intel E8500 3.16GHz C2D (stock)
2GB RAM
Sapphire X1550 512MB Graphics card
1x 160GB SATAII HDD
1x 360GB SATAII HDD (both Seagate Barracudas)

MAMEis running sweet mostly, but there is still a lot of configuring I can do to get that extra 1% FPS before I try overclocking!

Unless the system emulation is RISC/PPC based. You'll see a slow down on those.

I bought a 2.53ghz core2duo cpu+mobo bundle yesterday and set about making it a mame/nulldc box today. Although Mame works fine, nulldc won't respond to any button except start and 5 on the player one side (not tried player 2). I'm using the most recent input plugin and although I can assign the buttons fine in the config, they simply don't work in game. Going back and forth between mame and the problem is obviously limited to nulldc. I'm using a JVS-Pac for controls and as I can set it up fine, I don't think it's an issue with the firmware or the device as it works fine in mame and the config.

Other then that, I'm getting good speed with GGXX - it's always hovering around 100%. I just can't play anything! It was nice too see that the JVS-PAC lets me use the cabs own test/service buttons under the cp to load and operate the text menu inside the emulator :)

I am using Vista x64, but the only driver I am using is the HID keyboard driver, so I can't see that being the problem and my chipset drivers are all 64bit too
